So my brother Jeff sent me some music the other day by a band called Muse. I had heard a song or 2 of theirs on the radio before, but did not recognize the name until after I had listened to what he sent me. After listening to Muse‘s Origin Of Symmetry and Showbiz I decided it would be worth it to pursue another album of theirs. I decided on The Resistance since it was their most recent album. Holy Crap! I was blown away. The Resistance is one of the best records I’ve heard in a long time. It has moments where this large wall of music just washes right over you! It is really great.

The track I’m posting is called Uprising. It is a really upbeat song, and I love the heavy beat it carries. Lyrically the song is outstanding. The message the song sends is thought provoking, and the music never lets up. I like this band a lot and look forward to hearing more of them. I would recommend that anyone who likes this song pick up the whole album. It is REALLY good. Thanks again Jeff!

So now that I can upload MP3′s to the website I’ve decided to upload one a week. I can look back at some point in the future and see what I was listening to at the time. I think it will be neat, plus I might introduce some of my readers to some new music they haven’t heard before. My plan is to have an update every Friday since that is my day off and it gives me time to do it.

So without further delay I bring you Superfast Jellyfish by The Gorillaz (featuring Gruff Rhys and De La Soul). This is probably one of my favorite songs on the Plastic Beach record.

So I got an email today that had a picture in it that looked like this.

In the email was the information for me to pick up tickets in the pre-sale, before the tickets went on sale to the general public. This show is going to sell out fast, so I was ecstatic! I didn’t think the Smashing Pumpkins were going to be playing Reno on this tour they are doing right now. What is most special about this tour is that all the venue’s they are playing are very small. So the shows are very limited as to the number of people who can attend. It also means that there are no bad seats, and I will be VERY close to the stage. I am so incredibly excited about this. I can’t wait!

I’ve seen the Smashing Pumpkins once before, and when I saw them I had decent seats, but even if I end up at the back of the Knitting Factory (which I won’t) I’ll still be closer than I was the last time I saw them. The last time I saw Billy Corgan play guitar it was an amazing experience. I’ve never seen a better guitar player than him. It’s kind of sad that his albums don’t really do justice to what he is able to do live.

So after a chat with my brother Jeff, I decided to post up what my current musical tastes are. These are the top artists I’ve been listening to the last 3 months, and how many times I’ve played a song of theirs. Lately I’ve been particularly enamored with Hank III and Sleigh Bells.
